At last night’s Fendi Solar Dreams party, the actor chatted with us about fashion week, working with Tom Cruise on ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ and which film he wishes had received an Oscar nomination.

If you&rsquo;ve followed Miles Teller at all throughout the decade he&rsquo;s worked in film, you probably know he has an incredible range of talents. He&rsquo;s danced as Willard Hewitt in the 2011 Footloose remake, exercised his dramatic skills to much acclaim in the likes of The Spectacular Now and Whiplash, and even gone&nbsp;through three months of flight training for <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/jennifer-connelly-interview-2019">Top Gun: Maverick</a>, where he joins Tom Cruise in a much-anticipated sequel to the 1986 action film.

Teller&rsquo;s resum&eacute; is impressive on its own, but his talented nature doesn&rsquo;t stop there&mdash;he once went through a period of lucid <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/wellness/sleep-solutions-insomnia-routine">dreaming</a> without even trying. Many people attempt to learn how to control their own dreams, but the actor didn&rsquo;t even understand what was happening until he shared his experience. &ldquo;That was fun,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;I was just describing my dreams to somebody and I said that I was self-aware in the dreams and they said, &lsquo;Oh, that&rsquo;s actually lucid dreaming; that&rsquo;s pretty hard.&rsquo;&rdquo;

With his constant focus on honing his talents (apparently, even in his sleep), it&rsquo;s no surprise that Teller considers himself &ldquo;just a jeans and a t-shirt guy.&rdquo; Still, he was excited to style himself when preparing to attend <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/fendi-spring-2020">Fendi</a>&rsquo;s Solar Dreams celebration, pairing neutral pieces with army green sneakers, a thin necklace, and a sleek crossbody bag to create a look that easily balanced fashion with comfort: &ldquo;I thought I did all right.&rdquo;

Teller, who attended the cocktail party with wife Keleigh, was evidently inspired as he celebrated Silvia Venturini Fendi&rsquo;s Spring 2020 collection just ahead of New York <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/categories/fashion-week">Fashion Week</a>, which will showcase even more design talents before subsequent runway shows in London, Milan, and Paris. To start off the new decade and continue defining her vision for the Italian house, Venturini Fendi has crafted an optimistic, versatile offering, particularly so in menswear. Actress <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/katherine-langford-knives-out-cursed-fendi-party-fashion-week">Katherine Langford</a> attended the party in a double-F necklace from the men&rsquo;s collection, and Teller&rsquo;s look displayed the range of pieces that can come together to fit a variety of styles.

A few months before he is inevitably all over the press circuit with his major new film, Teller spoke with L&rsquo;Officiel USA about what he learned in production, his experience working with Tom Cruise, and which film he wishes had gotten an <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/oscar-nominations-2020-snubs-female-directors-awkwafina-beyonce">Oscar nomination</a>.

What are you looking forward to most about fashion week?

I just think it&rsquo;s a great time to see what truly the greatest creative minds in the fashion world are coming up with, because they&rsquo;re so far ahead of what we&rsquo;re thinking as far as <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/categories/fashion">fashion</a> goes, and it&rsquo;s always nice to see where they see fashion going. We&rsquo;re very lucky to have these creators around it and working. It&rsquo;s a great time for fashion.&nbsp;

What excites you about being part of tonight&rsquo;s Fendi Solar Dreams celebration?

I&rsquo;m very much just a jeans and a t-shirt guy, so when Fendi invited me to this event to help showcase their spring&nbsp;line, I was very flattered that they wanted me to come. I put this ensemble together when I was [preparing for the event]. I thought I did all right.

What would you do on an ideal spring day?

I grew up in the Northeast, in South Jersey. Spring is the best in the Northeast. When I was in <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/digital-issues/letter-from-the-editor-we-love-ny-april-2019">New York</a>, I would grab my iPod, because many years ago I was at NYU, and I would go to a park and just people watch. I just enjoy kind of walking around, people watching. Baseball season is also coming up. I like going to spring training baseball games.

What&rsquo;s the best dream you&rsquo;ve ever had?

I can&rsquo;t remember one specifically, but there was a period of time when I was very good at lucid dreaming, where I knew I was in a dream and I was able to control what was happening. That was fun. I didn&rsquo;t even know I was lucid dreaming. I was just describing my dreams to somebody and I said that I was self-aware in the dreams and they said, &ldquo;Oh, that&rsquo;s actually lucid dreaming; that&rsquo;s pretty hard.&rdquo;&nbsp;

You&rsquo;re in Top Gun: Maverick, which comes out this summer. How was your experience working on the film?

I think I underestimated the amount of work. I didn&rsquo;t realize how tough the flying was gonna be. There&rsquo;s no green screen; we&rsquo;re actually in the jets the whole time. We had three months of flight training and then we filmed for several months; it was about a year of production for me. And it was really tough, but getting to work with Tom and the rest of the cast, kind of the next generation of pilots, it was wonderful and I have so much respect for the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/men/dean-charles-chapman-1917-film-game-of-thrones">military</a>. Regardless of your political views, what those men and women are sacrificing is truly commendable and very honorable. I always enjoy it when I get to learn about somebody&rsquo;s profession a little more.

What&rsquo;s one thing you want people to know about that movie?

If you&rsquo;re going to trust anybody to deliver a film that is going to entertain audiences while still maintaining its integrity, it&rsquo;s Tom Cruise. Tom could do a one-man show and it would be incredibly fascinating; the guy just works harder than anybody. Everybody elevated their game because of Tom.&nbsp;

Who is the actor you would love to work with most?

That&rsquo;s a tough one. There are so many great ones, and I&rsquo;ve worked with a lot. I&rsquo;d love to work with Tom Hanks.&nbsp;

The Oscars are this Sunday. Do you have any favorite nominated films?

I was a big fan of Uncut Gems, which wasn&rsquo;t nominated. But all the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/oscars-2020-nominated-movies-to-watch-and-stream">films nominated</a> absolutely deserved it. I loved Little Women; that was great. I loved the original and I thought Greta did an incredible job.
