Regé-Jean Page Joins the Cast of 'Dungeons & Dragons' Movie

The actor has skyrocketed to fame since his breakout role in Netflix's "Bridgerton."

Since the success of his breakout role in Netflix's Bridgerton, actor Regé-Jean Page has been headlines not only for his steamy on-screen romance, but also for his upcoming film and TV appearances. Today, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that, for his next big role, Page will star in Dungeons & Dragons, a movie based on the titular fantasy roleplaying game. The project also stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith, and will be directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Game Night). Few details about the film had been released, including whether or not it will stick within the fantasy-adventure genre of the game or, instead, present as a comedy like Goldstein and Daley's previous work.

 

In the eight weeks since Bridgerton's debut, Page, along with his his co-star Phoebe Dynevor and the rest of the cast, have become overnight sensations. According to Netflix, the series is the most-watched show in the streaming platform's history, with over 82 million households tuning in. While the first season centered on the Regency-era love story between Page and Dynevor's characters, the Duke of Hastings and Daphne Bridgerton, the second season will turn the focus onto Daphne's older brother, Anthony. The new season will also include include a new cast member, actress Simone Ashley, as Anthony's love interest Kate Sharma.

Later this week, Page will host Saturday Night Live for the first time, giving fans an opportunity to see Page dabble in comedy, as most of his previous credits, including Sylvie's Love, Mortal Engines, and For the People, follow a more dramatic tone.
