Get a First Look at Emerald Fennell's 'Saltburn,' Starring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi

While the ongoing SAG and WGA strikes have effectively shut down Hollywood, across the pond, the annual BFI London Film Festival has landed one of the most anticipated British films of the year as its opener. 

On October 4, Saltburn, written and directed by the Oscar-winning Emerald Fennell, will premiere at the London Film Festival at London’s Royal Festival Hall. The film has an A-list cast including Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, Archie Madekwe, and Carey Mulligan.

Per the synopsis, the story follows an Oxford University student Oliver Quick (Keoghan) who "finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Elordi), who invites him to Saltburn, his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, for a summer never to be forgotten."

While Fennell serves as the writer and producer, Saltburn is also co-produced by Margot Robbie and Josey McNamara. 

"I’m honored that our film is able to open this year’s BFI London Film Festival. It is a festival that inspired me so much growing up, one that I followed excitedly from my bedroom on the other side of London,” said Fennell, per Deadline. "It feels extra-special that Saltburn, this very British tale of excess, is able to make its international debut at the wonderful BFI."
