The summer of remakes will extend into 2026, as the team behind the 'Scary Movie' franchise is returning with the original cast of the Wayans brothers.&nbsp;

Whether it's <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/anne-hathaway-daring-2000s-looks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anne Hathaway</a> returning to her <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/the-devil-wears-prada-2-first-look-at-andy-sachs-outfit-anne-hathaway-see-all-the-looks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andy Sachs</a> roots on the streets of New York or <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/pamela-anderson-ferragamo-the-naked-gun-movie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pamela Anderson</a> and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/liam-neeson-dating-history-pamela-anderson-the-naked-gun" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Liam Neeson</a> falling in love on the set of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/the-naked-gun-original-movie-1988-priscilla-presley-leslie-nielsen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Naked Gun</a>, this year has truly shaped up to be "the summer of the remake." It was just announced that there is another reboot to add to the roster, with a new Scary Movie slated to hit theatres in June 2026. So maybe it isn't just the "summer of remakes" after all, and the film industry has fully embraced the era of rebooting fan favorites.
A key part of the recipe for any film reboot is bringing back the original cast, and the new Scary Movie&nbsp;is expected to do exactly that. Both Anna Faris and Regina Hall, who made names for themselves in the 2000 film, are coming back for the sixth film in the franchise. The Wayans brothers, Marlon, Keenan Ivory, and Shawn, are behind the script that is set to be directed by Michael Tiddes.
The brothers are the original brains and talent behind the franchise, but they have not been involved in a Scary Movie&nbsp;film since the sequel in 2001. The brothers have long been known for their comedic genius, as they also wrote, directed, and starred in the 2004 hit,&nbsp;White Chicks.
Faris and Hall could not be more excited for the reunion, saying in a joint statement, "We can&rsquo;t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon &mdash; three men we&rsquo;d literally die for (in Brenda&rsquo;s case, again)."
Scary Movie&nbsp;was a record-breaking film upon its release, making $42 million at the domestic box office. The film became the highest-grossing R-rated horror movie and the most successful film directed by a Black filmmaker at the time. The Paramount film is slated to hit theatres on June 12, 2026, but we're not worried, as there are plenty of other remakes to indulge in, from <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/lindsay-lohan-channels-cher-from-clueless-for-freakier-friday-press-movie-release-date" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Freakier Friday</a> to <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/all-the-celebrity-cameos-in-happy-gilmore-2-bad-bunny-eminem-travis-kelce-julie-bowen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Happy Gilmore 2</a>.
