Netflix's most popular series is returning for another season.

Heads up! Netflix just gave the green light&mdash;pun intended&mdash;for the second season of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/netflix-just-dropped-custom-squid-game-merch" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Squid Game</a>.
In an interview with the <a href="https://twitter.com/APEntertainment/status/1458060909319004170" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AP</a>, writer Hwang Dong-hyuk said, &ldquo;There&rsquo;s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!&rdquo;
Soon after the show's premiere on the streaming platform, it topped the hit period drama <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/bridgerton-season-2-first-look-netflix-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bridgerton</a> as Netflix's most-watched series, reaching 142 million households within four weeks.

Squid Game takes place in a dystopian society where a group of 456 contestants in dire financial straits compete with their lives in a series of gruesomely reimagined children's games to win ₩45.6 billion (roughly $38.7 million).
In Season 1 of the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/new-k-dramas-to-watch-after-squid-game-fall-winter-2021" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Korean series</a>, viewers watched players Seong Gi-hun (456), Cho Sang-woo (218), and Kang Sae-byeok (067) battle it out for the chance to win the prize money and save their families. For Season 2, Dong-hyuk says that he would be open to seeing Gi-hun return to &ldquo;do something for the world.&rdquo;
While the series as a whole has been an uncontested success, one of the biggest breakout stars is actress <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/what-to-know-about-hoyeon-jung-from-squid-game" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HoYeon Jung</a> who plays Kang. Shortly after the show's debut, the 26-year-old star was announced as the newest <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/hoyeon-jung-louis-vuitton-new-global-maison-ambassador" target="_blank" rel="noopener">global ambassador for Louis Vuitton</a>.
