The founder of Off-White has been appointed Menswear Designer of the iconic French heritage brand.

After months of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/men/is-off-white-s-virgil-abloh-next-for-louis-vuitton" onclick="window.open(this.href, '', 'resizable=no,status=no,location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,fullscreen=no,scrollbars=no,dependent=no'); return false;">speculation</a>, the rumors are in fact true. LVMH has announced that Off-White founder&nbsp;(and part-time DJ) Virgil Abloh will be heading to Louis Vuitton as Menswear Designer following the departure of Kim Jones.

The decision to appoint Abloh is history-making. He is Vuitton&#39;s first Black artistic director. It&#39;s also a dream come true for Abloh. Back in 2016, he&nbsp;told <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/virgil-abloh-profile" onclick="window.open(this.href, '', 'resizable=no,status=no,location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,fullscreen=no,scrollbars=no,dependent=no'); return false;">GQ</a>, &ldquo;I can play in and out of what&rsquo;s commercial, I can do things for the art&rsquo;s sake. But it&rsquo;s all a r&eacute;sum&eacute;. I want to design for a house.&rdquo;

No doubt he&nbsp;was the obvious choice for the role considering the work of his predecessor. Jones has been famously credited with bringing streetwear influences to Vuitton&mdash;no doubt he&nbsp;will do the same.

According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/26/business/louis-vuitton-virgil-abloh.html" onclick="window.open(this.href, '', 'resizable=no,status=no,location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,fullscreen=no,scrollbars=no,dependent=no'); return false;">The New York Times</a>, Abloh will continue designing for Off-White and working with friend and longtime collaborator Kanye West.&nbsp;Given the fact that major luxury fashion conglomerates have been playing a game of musical chairs when it comes to appointing creative directors, excitement and anticipation are high for his first collection.&nbsp;
