Almost three decades after she rose to fame as a member of Destiny&rsquo;s Child, Kelly Rowland is preparing for a comeback that promises to be one of the most significant of her solo career. She has a new album due out in 2026, her first full-length record since 2013&rsquo;s Talk a Good Game. In addition to the four LPs she&rsquo;s put out on her own, Rowland&rsquo;s discography, of course, also includes the five chart-topping albums that she recorded with Destiny&rsquo;s Child in the late 1990s and early aughts. To much fanfare, she recently reunited with Beyonc&eacute; Knowles and Michelle Williams onstage in July, performing hits like &ldquo;Lose My Breath&rdquo; and &ldquo;Bootylicious&rdquo; during the Las Vegas finale of Beyonc&eacute;&rsquo;s Cowboy Carter Tour.
In the coming months, Rowland, 44, will embark on an international tour of her own. She&rsquo;ll also continue to scour the globe for up-and-coming talent, a passion project that has led the singer to become a reality TV personality. She most recently starred on Netflix&rsquo;s Building the Band, selecting young musicians to form a new group in a process that she describes as &ldquo;intimate and powerful.&rdquo; Rowland is no stranger to taking on a mentorship role, having appeared as a judge on both U.S. and U.K. editions of The X Factor; as the creator and host of the 2016 docuseries Chasing Destiny; and as a coach on The Voice Australia, a role she&rsquo;ll reprise on The Voice UK in 2026.
In February, Rowland will star in Prime Video&rsquo;s Relationship Goals, portraying a trailblazing TV producer opposite Cliff &ldquo;Method Man&rdquo; Smith. Based on Michael Todd&rsquo;s book of the same name, the romantic comedy has already been generating buzz. Meanwhile, Rowland remains committed to social causes that are close to her heart. A longtime supporter of the Baby2Baby nonprofit organization and mother of two, she continues to promote initiatives that help families in need. In conversation with L&rsquo;OFFICIEL, Rowland explains how parenthood has changed her approach to her career and public life. She also gets candid about her goals for 2026: personal growth, attention to younger generations, and an increasingly authentic narrative of her own journey. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m building something that truly speaks to me,&rdquo; she says. &ldquo;And I want to share it with the world.&rdquo;

L&rsquo;OFFICIEL: You&rsquo;ve got a tour coming up. What can fans expect from your live shows this time around&mdash;are there any surprises in store?
KELLY ROWLAND: I&rsquo;m so excited to get back on the road. Touring is one of my favorite things to do. From the time I started rehearsals, I asked myself the same question: How do I make my show solely me? To do so I went inward. Fans can expect to see a lot more dancing. I just want them to have fun. And I want to have fun.
L&rsquo;O: You&rsquo;ve also been working on an album. What can you tell us about the sound of your new music?
KR: I&rsquo;ve been in the studio, and I am pouring my soul into this project. I don&rsquo;t want to spoil it by revealing too much too early, but this is a more soulful me. I&rsquo;m also getting more reflective and vulnerable.
L&rsquo;O: This past summer, you starred on Netflix&rsquo;s singing competition Building the Band. How did that project come about?
KR: When I was asked to be a mentor, I knew I had to do it. I have learned so much from my journey being in a group, and I felt that it was the right time to work with a band and see them through the entire process. I&rsquo;m happy that it&rsquo;s the kind of show you can catch up with any time [on the streamer].
L&rsquo;O: What do you look for in rising stars&mdash;especially when you&rsquo;re tasked with forming a group?
KR: True talent, confidence, and hard work. That has never changed.

L&rsquo;O: Your upcoming movie, Relationship Goals, is already getting a lot of attention. What drew you to the role?
KR: I love a good romantic comedy, and I knew this would be special. The entire cast is amazing&mdash;and working with Method Man was so beautiful. You know, everyone knows him in the music world, but this man is one helluva actor. He comes prepared, stays in character, and is just the biggest cheerleader for everyone. So I cannot wait for the world to see this film.
L&rsquo;O: In addition to your creative projects, you also do a lot of advocacy work. How do you balance your work in those spaces?
KR: They&rsquo;re both important to me, so I find the time. I cannot be creative if I am not giving back. And my advocacy work pushes my creativity.
L&rsquo;O: You&rsquo;ve long supported Baby2Baby, a nonprofit that provides basic necessities for children living in poverty across the U.S. What does that organization mean to you, personally?
KR: I am honored to support Baby2Baby. The intention has always spoken to my heart and, as a mother, I will always stand up for children and the families that love them.
L&rsquo;O: You&rsquo;ve shared so many beautiful reflections on motherhood over the years. How has being a parent influenced you as an artist?
KR: Becoming a mother has been the most enlightening thing I have ever done. My sons, Titan [11], and Noah [4], mean the world to me. Everything I do, I&rsquo;m aware of how it affects them&mdash;and not just now, but in the future. My husband&rsquo;s and my number-one job is to ensure that we are creating a better world for them.

L&rsquo;O: Have your sons taught you anything surprising?
KR: You know what I&rsquo;ve learned from my sons? To stay curious and to learn something new every day. They ask so many questions&hellip; They keep me on my toes.
L&rsquo;O: Speaking of, you&rsquo;ve never played it safe when it comes to your fashion choices. How has your style evolved over time?
KR: Over the years I&rsquo;ve become more experimental. I&rsquo;m confident in my body and know I&rsquo;m in a place where I am wearing the look; the look is not wearing me.
L&rsquo;O: How would you describe your style today?
KR: I like high-low fashion. I&rsquo;m just as comfortable in couture as I am in a great pair of jeans and a T-shirt. But I do really love fashion&mdash;it&rsquo;s always about self-expression to me. When I find the outfit that matches how I&rsquo;m feeling, that is the greatest win.
L&rsquo;O: Are there any designers or fashion eras that you&rsquo;re particularly drawn to?
KR: I love fashion from the &lsquo;60s, &lsquo;70s, and &lsquo;90s. I feel like the &lsquo;90s took so much inspiration from the &lsquo;60s and &lsquo;70s. But the &lsquo;90s, that&rsquo;s my all-time favorite fashion era, for sure. I&rsquo;m also impressed by what is happening in fashion right now. The movements at some of the big houses with new creative directors excite me: Gucci, Celine, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, and more. And I will always support up-and-coming fashion houses, as well as innovative and inspiring Black designers. Some of my favorite brands are LaQuan Smith, Sergio Hudson, Jil Sander, Harbison Studio, and Fear of God.

L&rsquo;O: You&rsquo;ve had some unforgettable red carpet looks over the years. What&rsquo;s that process like for you&mdash;do you enjoy it?
KR: I always have a sense of what I want and how I want to look for a particular event. I love to sit with my stylists, talk about it, and listen to all their ideas. We always get to a good place after that and simply toss out what does not work. I love when they surprise me, though, with something that&rsquo;s not on the moodboard but that I absolutely love.
L&rsquo;O: Heading into 2026, are you setting any personal or professional goals?
KR: I want to stay healthy, focused, and prayerful. I want to release my album. And I would love to do at least two movies.
L&rsquo;O: The New Year is always a time for reflection. Do you have any words of wisdom for 2026?
KR: Watch your tongue, and watch how you speak to yourself. What you say to yourself, you will become; it will be manifested. So feed yourself words that nurture you and allow you to become a better version of you. You deserve it. I would also say, when you feel like you just can&rsquo;t go another step, just think about all that&rsquo;s ahead waiting for your beauty, your grace, your intelligence, your talent, your heart. The world needs you.
