Legendary rock 'n' roll photographer (and the man behind our epic Lana Del Rey photoshoot from Issue 1) Mick Rock shot Tony Award-winning actor, director, and writer John Cameron Mitchell ahead of his new show that will begin in Australia in June, titled The Origin of Love: The Songs & Stories of Hedwig

John Cameron Mitchell directed, wrote and starred in the film Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001), receiving awards including Best Director at the Sundance Festival, and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. His Broadway production of the film landed him a Tony Award in 2014 for Best Revival of Musical, as well as a Special Tony Award for his return to the role in 2015.

“At last! My journey to Oz, long-deferred by silly obstacles like unemployment and airfare, is a reality! I shall strap on a Cubist corsette and chromium wig, regale you with haphazard stories from 55 years of fake rock stardom and wail your favorite Hedwig songs like some kind of wonder woman within. Please prepare for my imminent arrival," Mitchell said.

The show will include Mitchell performing songs and telling stories from the rock musical’s 20 years history and a preview of his songs from his upcoming musical podcast, Anthem.
