My My My! Troye Sivan Returns with New Single
Rising pop singer Troye Sivan heralds his sophomore album return with new single “My My My!,” produced by Oscar Gorres (Taylor Swift, Britney Spears), and written with James Alan and longtime collaborator Brett McLaughlin (Selena Gomez, Daya).
Sivan describes the track as a “song of liberation, freedom, and love. Throw all inhibition to the wind, be present in your body, love wholeheartedly, move the way you've always wanted to, and dance the way you feel - hopefully even to this song!" Where the singer’s debut album, Blue Neighborhood, heard and saw him at a time of sexual self-discovery, the follow-up will likely dive deeper into actualization, which is great news for fans. On Twitter, the singer has made clear that plenty of tracks will be about falling in love, which likely stems from his public relationship with boyfriend Jacob Bixenman. There are few things more magnetic than an artist coming fully into their own, especially with confidence, which Sivan boasts plenty of in the track’s accompanying music video.
For “My My My!,” Sivan tapped Grant Singer whose often dark and moody work includes videos for Lorde’s reprisal “Green Light” and The Weeknd. Styling was done by Mel Ottenberg, who has most notably styled many, if not most, of Rihanna’s head-turning looks over the last few years.
Sivan’s press images (below), including the one that shined brightly over Times Square this week, were photographed by former Saint Laurent designer and photographer Hedi Slimane. Slimane has famously photographed Lady Gaga’s Fame Monster album art. Given his credentials, it’s entirely likely he’s done the same for Sivan. The singer has been previously shot by Slimane and been casted to walk the runway in a Saint Laurent show.
