It is no surprise that the viral K-pop girl group NewJeans is one of the most buzzed-about acts to have come out of South Korea in recent times. And that buzz is about to reach a fever pitch as the group just released two new tracks titled "Super Shy" and "New Jeans" from their upcoming sophomore EP, Get Up, scheduled to debut on July 21. The accompanying music videos were also dropped and have been praised by many for their unique, concept-driven aesthetic and vibrant colors.
The five-member girl group consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein catapulted to fame with their debut singles, "Attention" and "Hype Boy," before solidifying their reputation as the girl group to watch of this generation with hit songs like "Ditto" and "OMG." Since then, the ladies of NewJeans have gone on to land fashion ambassadorships with luxury brands like Burberry and become the face of brands like Levi's, Coca-cola, and McDonald's, turning them into global household names.
With their new album Get Up right around the corner, NewJeans delivered pre-released singles as a little taster of what's to come. The K-pop supergroup showcases the qualities of its members in the high-energy pop track called "Super Shy," characterized by Jersey Club rhythms and a colorful, musical-style MV. The song is both an earworm and very relatable with its lyrics of being too shy to approach a crush.
Additionally, "New Jeans" presents an intriguing collaboration with The Powerpuff Girls, and its music video depicts the girls transformed into bite-sized heroes battling villains in different settings. The MV has been gaining much praise among netizens for its creative art direction that fits the group's aesthetic perfectly.
