L'Officiel USA Exclusive: So Below Premieres New Song "Drive"
It's only been a few years since Madeline North aka So Below's musical debut with her single "Drift" in 2015, which garnered the native New Zealander over a million plays on Soundcloud and Spotify. Since then, the electro-pop singer has released the dance-inducing "Ruin" and "Far," and more recently toured with American indie rock duo Now, Now.
North's signature sound consists of layering processed vocals and harmonies over dark-ish beats, which comes together to form a dreamy sound that would fit perfectly in your next playlist between The XX and Chromatics. Her latest song is "Drive" and premieres today exclusively on L'Officiel USA.
It's pure electro-pop perfection, another stellar addition to the musician's repertoire of infectious dance songs. With this most recent release, North's soft vocals haunt a groovy synth-infused melody, kept in line with the beat of a steady 808, courtesy of producers Big Taste (Dua Lipa, Madison Beer, Justin Bieber, Shamir) and Space Above. The track carries an air of self-awareness and determination, with North reciting lyrics like "You gotta let me drive, for a while, for tonight." An empowering and fitting remedy to those instances where you might feel a little lost.
Earlier this year, she also released her EP II, which included three previously released singles as well as new song "Visions" written with producer/co-writer Sam McCarthy (Boyboy) and Chelsea Jade. But given how good "Drive" is, we're sure to expect even greater things from So Below.
