Watch Parson James's Emotional Video for Only You

Just in time for Valentine's Day.

After a painfully long January, February is finally here — and in full swing — given the many shades of red, pink, and white that have saturated the candy shelves of any given Duane Reade. But come February 14, relying on candy just won't cut it. Dinner reservations must be made, gifts must be wrapped, and a romantic playlist must be made. Should you need help with the latter, Parson James has got you covered.

"Only You" is his latest single — a romantic and soulful ballad backed by the melody of a dusty piano. It's the kind of song you dream about for rare, romantic moments. The song you imagine slow-dancing to with the person you love. And while we've only been able to use our imaginations when it comes to visualizing such a scene, James just released the track's accompanying music video.

Directed by Dano Cerny (The Chainsmokers, Tori Kelly), the video highlights a couple's relationship journey as they navigate their emotions, feelings, and everything else that comes with being in love. It's quite the undertaking, but as the video proves, when it's done right, it's done right.

The video goes beyond expressing the deep emotions entangled in the song, though. James took the opportunity to include a trans character in the video (musician Neon) "I often find it rare to see their stories portrayed in narratives that are as common, simple and familiar as this one," the singer told PAPER. "I am humbled, moved and proud to be able to share this story visually in this way, with this cast."
