As the pink-haired pop star prepares to release her debut studio album, she contemplates her relationship with fame.

When Slovak singer-songwriter and dancer Adéla Jergová began to blow up on the pop scene, she knew the inevitable could arrive: Being loved at first, then suddenly criticized. She's seen the phenomenon occur to many of the industry's top names like Miley Cyrus, Madonna, and Ariana Grande, and found herself thinking, would she be next on the list?
Her debut studio album PRIMA releases on Sept. 4, which has kept the&nbsp; 22-year-old ballerina-turned-emerging pop icon busy. It's safe to say that Adéla is preparing for a huge moment in her career.
From teaching herself English by watching YouTube and the Disney Channel to being eliminated on Netflix's&nbsp;Pop Star Academy for her potential as a solo artist, the journey has had some lows and many highs thus far. Her EP,&nbsp;The Provocateur,&nbsp;opening for Demi Lovato's tour, and dropping a great range of tracks like "KGB," "Red Bottoms," and "Ain't in LA," are just a few milestones so far. But Adéla wants to distinguish her "performance self" from her "personal self."
“I don’t think people know me at all. The type of friend I am, the type of daughter I am, the type of sister I am, the type of partner I am—they’ll never see that,” she told <a href="https://www.teenvogue.com/story/adela-prima-cover-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Teen Vogue</a>. “When I released ‘Red Bottoms,’ there were people that were like, ‘This is not her at all.’ People are funny to me because it’s like, ‘Who is “her” to you?’”

Even when the rather emotional hit settled in amongst the zeitgeist, many online questioned the direction that&nbsp;PRIMA was headed towards. But Adéla knows that parasociality is inevitable, especially as her friends in Katseye have been subjected to much talk that has ultimately flustered the viral girl group.
Yes, Adéla, Katseye, and the soon-to-launch group Saint Satine share the same unique experience of attempting to achieve success in the pop act pipeline. However, with this distinct approach, they are more likely to face criticism from the public than those who went through a different route.
“It definitely feels like there's a bounty on a lot of [pop stars’] heads, especially on the internet, because we're…[young] women,” Adéla told T<a href="https://www.teenvogue.com/story/adela-prima-cover-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">een Vogue</a>. “And no matter what, no matter how hard you try to paint yourself as a good person, if you're a woman, at some point, you're going to be hated.”
Although the artist knows that public figures are most often the targets of others' frustration, she takes advice from her therapist and mentors like Lovato, Grimes, and Christina Aguilera to be compassionate, patient, and non-reactive. And these skills were put to the test when "KGB" was met with criticism online.

The song's catchy flow and high-fashion music video were scrutinized as the artist referenced the KGB by winking and shimmying in the official clip. Adéla recognizes the impact of the actions of the KGB in Slovakia, but in the time since the track was released, she has expressed that she ultimately was happy that people made comments, and eventually others educated those commentators.
With "The Red Bottoms Tour" kicking off in under two weeks, the preparation to make meaningful and fulfilling changes to her artistry is a vital task for the musical powerhouse. Simply put, a pop culture renaissance is underway with Adéla.
