Billie Eilish Addresses Break Up From Jesse Rutherford
After less than of year since becoming a couple, the two have reportedly gone their separate ways.
In less than a year since dating, Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford have broken up according to Page Six. A spokesperson for Eilish assured the split was amicable, stating they "remain good friends."
The former couple was first spotted together in October 2022, going Instagram official a month later. That same month, they made headlines walking the LACMA Art + Film Gala red carpet together wrapped in a Gucci blanket. Since first being romantically linked, Eilish and Rutherford's relationship was not met without backlash considering their 10-year age gap (Eilish is 21 and Rutherford is 31). However, through the whispers, the couple remained strong — until now.
Throughout the duration of their relationship, Eilish and Rutherford remained relatively private, only attending a few events together and posting on Instagram every now and then. In a 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, Eilish gushed about her new beau, calling him "really inspiring" and how excited she was for their relationship. Their last public appearance was at Coachella last month as they were spotted enjoying the music festival together.
There is no confirmed news on the reasoning behind their split. Earlier this month, Eilish attended the 2023 Met Gala (without Rutherford) as she walked the carpet in a custom Simone Rocha dress. Later that night at an afterparty, Eilish was met with cheating allegations after being spotted spending time with actress Ava Capri.
Those allegations have since been denied by Eilish's spokesperson, with no response from Rutherford's rep. "All cheating rumors are false. Both are currently single," Eilish's representative told People Magazine.
Following their breakup, Eilish has finally commented on the split. When a fan asked her about Rutherford on Instagram stories, Eilish responded, "Very very good friends only...my homie forever." When another fan asked if she's dating anyone right now, Eilish wrote, "NO SIRRRRRRR."
