The couple's new film,&nbsp;Together, comes out on July 30. L'OFFICIEL looks back at their 13-year relationship.

Dave Franco and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/politics-culture/alison-brie-responds-to-allegations-against-james-franco" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alison Brie</a> have been Hollywood fixtures for years, but the story of how they met has nothing to do with an on-set encounter. The two actually met in 2011, celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and have been together ever since. They tied the knot at an intimate ceremony in March 2017 and have been happily married ever since. Their most recent project has them playing a couple whose bodies literally start fusing together. While this may not literally be the case for the couple, they have been attached at the hip for over ten years.
Franco, the younger brother of fellow actor <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/politics-culture/alison-brie-responds-to-allegations-against-james-franco" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Franco</a>, started his career by playing smaller roles in hit films, including Superbad,&nbsp;starring Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill. He set himself apart from his famous sibling after his performance in the 2012 film 21 Jump Street. He most recently made waves for his cameo in the hit show&nbsp;The Studio,&nbsp;which takes a comedic look at the inner workings of Hollywood. Franco earned an Emmy nomination for his guest role in the comedy series. Brie has also made a name for herself in the comedy sphere with her role as Annie Edison in the TV series&nbsp;Community, and paved her way in the industry with her role in Mad Men&nbsp;from 2007 to 2015.
Their newest film, Together, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, where it was picked up by Neon. Starting July 30, we can watch the two actors star as an on-screen couple in the body horror movie directed by Michael Shanks.

Both Brie and Franco were in New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras when a mutual friend of theirs set them up. Brie explained the encounter in an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in 2020, saying that they were all out at dinner when her friend texted her, "You should hook up with Dave." She obviously was excited by the potential, and he felt similarly, saying that the setup led to "48 hours of drugs, sex, and a lot of making out."

<h2>2011: Brie threw him a surprise birthday party</h2>

A few months into dating, during the summer of 2011, Brie decided to throw Franco a surprise birthday party, which ended up being a funny story to recount in interviews. During another conversation with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, this time with Franco, he explained that the surprise caused him to have a panic attack, which led him to experiment with a weed brownie, only making everything ten times worse. Now, years into their relationship, they both look back and laugh at the situation.

<h2>2015-2017: The two actors are engaged and married</h2>

Seeing as the two have made names for themselves as comedy actors, their engagement story was nothing short of silly and sweet. Franco recounted the story on The Late Late Show with James Corden, and explained how he had kept the mask she was wearing at Mardi Gras, along with a note she had written him that weekend. When he went down on one knee during a vacation in Big Sur, he had put the mask on. This only led to confusion on Brie's end, as she forgot she had worn it years ago. But after that slightly awkward moment, it was an immediate yes on her end. The two went on to get married in 2017 in a quiet ceremony without much press coverage.

<h2>2017-Present: Brie and Franco successfully combine their personal and professional lives</h2>

Franco and Brie have worked on and starred in a number of films together in their marriage. They recently discussed this on the It's Me, Tinx&nbsp;podcast hosted by the influencer Christina Najjar, commonly known as Tinx. When asked about dating in entertainment, Franco said, "There is something very beneficial about dating someone who does what you do, and we were just on the same page about so many things." 
This is clear, as they starred in the film The Disaster Artist together the same year they were married. Brie starred in Franco's directorial debut in 2020, in a movie called&nbsp;The Rental, and they co-wrote the 2023 movie Somebody I Used To Know together as well. Therefore, this is all shaping up to prove that their performances in&nbsp;Together are going to be nothing short of exciting.&nbsp;
