The feminist, journalist, and activist leaves behind a powerful legacy.&nbsp;

Gloria Steinem, a prominent feminist and activist, has died at 92. Per a statement posted by her foundation, she "passed away peacefully at her home in New York City, surrounded by some of the many who loved her." A cause of death was not shared. Across her long career, Steinem became known for her involvement in the second-wave feminism movement, which she is largely credited with sparking. Steinem was also a celebrated writer, who famously wrote essays on contraception, went undercover to write an investigative piece on the New York Playboy Club, and co-founded Ms. magazine in the early '70s.&nbsp;
"Gloria’s near-century on earth were years well-lived, and she continued working for equality until the very end," the statement continued. "Gloria’s greatest gift was her ability to listen to others, to make others feel seen and heard. Her words, actions, and example gave people permission to be their truest selves. Gloria lived true to her independent spirit, always with curiosity and a great sense of humor."
