From September 28, 2025, through February 8, 2026, the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam will present Tilda Swinton &ndash; Ongoing, an ambitious exhibition that reframes the actor not simply as a muse, but as an instigator and collaborator.
While Swinton&rsquo;s decades-long cinematic legacy spans avant-garde performance, artistic cinema, blockbusters, and couture mythmaking, Ongoing focuses on the lifelong creative relationships that form her process. Eight artists have created new work or re-imagined existing work for the exhibition: Pedro Almod&oacute;var, Luca Guadagnino, Joanna Hogg, Derek Jarman, Jim Jarmusch, Olivier Saillard, Tim Walker, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Each contributes a distinct lens. Guadagnino constructs a new intimate portrait of Swinton. With Hogg, she reconstructs Flat 19&mdash;her 1980s London flat&mdash;as an installation of memory. Jarmusch re-edits his absurdist zombie film The Dead Don&rsquo;t Die into something entirely new. Saillard and Swinton stage wardrobe-as-performance: garments, red carpet gowns, heirlooms, and film costumes become a live act of fashion archaeology. Walker photographs Swinton at home in Scotland, tracing lineage and landscape. Weerasethakul utilizes Swinton&rsquo;s domestic space to create a meditative installation centered on spirits and ancestry. Almod&oacute;var presents The Human Voice as spatial installation. And the late Derek Jarman&mdash;a pillar of Swinton&rsquo;s formation&mdash;appears through archival material, The Last of England (1987), and never-before-seen Super 8 footage.
Swinton herself frames the show as a reckoning with &ldquo;forty years&rdquo; of making&mdash;and the ongoing thread of creative fellowship that has nourished her. &ldquo;The perpetual seedbed,&rdquo; she calls it.&nbsp;
