In France’s 3-0 victory over Sweden at the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/travel-living/everything-to-do-and-see-ahead-of-the-2026-world-cup-in-nyc-fan-events-pop-ups-hotels-experiences-shopping-watch-parties">FIFA World Cup</a>’s knockout stage, two of those Les Bleus goals were assisted by none other than Michael Olise. As the French side continues its unbeaten run, the 24-year-old has quietly emerged as one of its most influential figures.
Born and raised in London to a British-Nigerian father and a Franco-Algerian mother, Olise chose to represent France on the international stage. Making his World Cup debut this summer, the Bayern Munich winger has been one of the tournament’s standout performers, not only within France’s star-studded squad but across the competition as a whole. With five assists in four matches, he tops the tournament’s assist chart through the Round of 32. 
Yet Olise’s appeal extends far beyond the statistics.

While most footballers sign lucrative boot sponsorship deals—such as Erling Haaland’s reported $24 million-per-year agreement with Nike and Lionel Messi’s “lifetime” contract with Adidas—Olise has opted out, trading the commercial bond for the creative freedom to coordinate his boots with whatever kit he wears. As teammates don <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/electric-fuchsia-fashion-trend-summer-2026-how-to-style-runway-inspiration-outfit-photos">neon boots that sport a bold pop of color</a> against the jersey’s calmer shades, Olise sticks to visual harmony.&nbsp;
At Bayern Munich, he has worn red boots to match the club’s signature color, or white ones that pick up the accents on the badge and home shirt. Further back in his Crystal Palace days, Olise paired black boots with the club’s dark strip, and wore boots split between sky blue and white to mirror the 21/22 third kit’s distinctive design. Not a single color on Olise’s boots appeared by chance—it already belonged somewhere else in his look.

Olise remains committed to his color-coded philosophy on football’s biggest stage, rotating through custom Nike Hypervenom Phantom III in colorways tailored to France’s kits—crisp white editions that echo the collars and shorts, blue versions that blend seamlessly with the home jersey’s Game Royal tone, and a mint green pair to complement the away strip, whose palette pays tribute to France’s world-famous gift: the Statue of Liberty. The iconic silo, first launched in 2017, has long been Olise’s boot of choice throughout his career.

The France national team is known for <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/erling-haaland-fifa-world-cup-birkin-bags-soccer-players-handbags-expensive-price">a sense of fashion</a> as impeccable as its football, and Olise plays his part in that reputation. Chrome Hearts is one of his go-to fashion labels, with the player frequently spotted wearing the brand’s clothing and accessories—even celebrating his birthday with a Chrome Hearts-themed cake. He also ties his hair with Chrome Hearts silk scarves styled like scrunchies, a small signature detail that has become one of the easiest ways to spot him during a game.
This summer, he has brought that aesthetic to the World Cup, stepping out in two pairs of Nike boots hand-painted by Los Angeles-based artist and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/matt-digiacomo-los-angeles-talent-artist-chrome-hearts-personal-style-fashion">former Chrome Hearts creative director</a> Matt DiGiacomo.

The styling, however, is only one part of Olise’s unmistakable aura.
Ahead of the World Cup, the midfielder wiped his Instagram clean, rebuilding the page one tournament appearance at a time. Rather than sharing the polished, high-resolution action shots most footballers favor, Olise has done the opposite. 
After each win, he drops images that resemble the faded frames captured from a ’90s television—pixelated, blurry, and at times distorted into something almost kaleidoscopic, with credit to photographer Lukas Korschan.&nbsp;
No caption. No audio. Just the overflowing aesthetic and, of course, Olise. No wonder fans have affectionately crowned him “Mr. Nonchalant.”
