Fans Think They've Figured Out Why Harry Styles Cut His Hair
What is Harry Styles without hair to style?
You know what they say — all good things must come to an end.
Harry Styles has singlehandedly caused a near shutdown of Twitter due to unimaginable distress after a blurry photo of him sporting a new hairdo circled the Internet. The haircut in question? A buzz cut — every inch of his luscious locks completely shaved. The photo was obtained by TMZ in which Styles was spotted alongside his new alleged girlfriend Taylor Russell while attending U2’s Las Vegas Sphere concert.
The new look has left fans completely divided, with some of them holding on to a lifeline and backing him up no matter how painful and others completely emotionally destroyed with a hard road to recovery ahead of them.
This then leaves the ultimate question: Why did Styles cut his hair? Well, fans think they've figured it out, and is thanks to none other than Taylor Swift.
Swifties believe that the reason Styles cut his hair is in response to Swift's newly-released lyrics in 1989 (Taylor's Version).
In her vault track "Now That We Don't Talk" (which many believe is about Styles), the following lyrics read: "You grew your hair long / You got new icons /And from the outside / It looks like you're tryin' lives on / I miss the old ways / You didn't have to change / But I guess I don't have a say / Now that we don't talk."
After the release of those lyrics, Swifties and the Internet alike are completely convinced that has played a major part in why Styles cut his hair.
There's also an off-chance he did this for an unknown upcoming movie role or succumbed to a spontaneous hair change, but as far as the Internet sees it, he cut his hair because of Swift, and that will remain the explanation unless stated otherwise.
"Now That We Don't Talk" isn't the only song from 1989 (Taylor's Version) that is about Styles. For context, when the original 1989 album came out in 2014, the release followed Swift and Styles' brief but intense whirlwind romance from November 2012 to January 2013. Meaning, that Styles is likely to be the alluded subject of her songs.
There's one song in particular that pretty much confirms this belief, and that's her vault track "Is Over Now." There are quite a few clues that Swifties have pointed out that lead to the conclusion that "Is It Over Now" is about Styles.
But back to his haircut. There's no turning around now that Styles has cut off all his hair. We can only hope that Russell — who is also a fashion muse in her own right — can talk him down from making such a rash decision ever again.
