Ian Schrager Still Knows How to Throw One Hell of a Party
Want to know how to make Times Square cool again? Take a note from entrepreneur Ian Schrager. Yes, the man behind Studio 54 and the EDITION Hotels managed to bring star power and glamor to the tourist-saturated commercial intersection, in celebration of the premiere of his latest outpost, The Times Square EDITION, in partnership with Marriott International. Standing tall amidst flashing lights and restaurant chains is the magnificent 42-story tower, which boasts 452 rooms, two restaurants by John Fraser (of Dovetail and Narcissa), and of course, a new form Cabaret theater (cue Liza Minelli). With all this to offer, it's no wonder why stars like Kendall Jenner, Daniel Arsham, Hailey Bieber, and Andy Cohen flocked to Midtown for the sophisticated affair.
Festivities began with an elegant candlelit dinner served at The Terrace Restaurant at EDITION by Michelin-award winning chef John Fraser. Not to be outdone, the real treat came with the after party, which featured a surprise performance by Diana Ross and Nile Rodgers and Chic in the Paradise Club. Disco lives, baby!
While the era of iconic New York City nightlife may be long gone for some, Schrager is bringing back that same magic, optimized for 2019 and beyond. It was all in all, a fucking fantastic evening—one that anyone in attendance won't be forgetting anytime soon.
