There's more than meets the eye to the village-sized rural resort, which famously played backdrop to the most recent season of The Bachelor.

The first thing to know about <a href="https://www.nemacolin.com/">Nemacolin</a>, the all-encompassing luxury resort tucked into the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania, is that the trek to get there is not so simple. Unless, of course, you have your own plane. (For all else, Pittsburgh's International Airport is approx. an hour and a half away.) The AAA award winning complex sits on over 2,000 acres of land, and features everything from a fine art collection that mixes founder Joe Hardy's personal pieces with showstoppers available for sale to woodland ziplining and other extreme sports, making whichever means of transport you take worth it. For those with PJ access, though, the glamorous airstrip plays host to the property's regular VIPs, including Matt James, who starred on the most recent season of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/biggest-tv-shows-streaming-netflix-2020-emily-in-paris-the-undoing">The Bachelor,</a> which filmed exclusively at Nemacolin earlier this year.&nbsp;

The village-sized resort offers several stays to curate guests' experiences, including The Lodge, the estate's original building, which was completed in 1968 for businessman Colonel Willard F. Rockwell; the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Falling Rock, a reference to the revered architect's most famous home, <a href="https://fallingwater.org/">Falling Water</a>, which is a 20 min drive from Nemacolin; The Chateau, a 1997-completed hotel inspired by The Ritz in Paris; and a mix of on-property townhomes and private residences.&nbsp;</div>

Like the luxe roomstays, there are so many larger-than-life activities to do at Nemacolin, that there is literally something glam for everyone. As seen on The Bachelor, the property's Wildlife Habitats are a personal favorite of its founder, whose own private house is situated perfectly to see the lion's den from his bedroom quarters. Other resident animals include donkey-herded sheep, tigers, bears, and even buffalo&mdash;a reference to the Indigenous tribes that originally settled the Pennsylvania area and that which Nemacolin draws its name from. A quick walk past the animals' properties, bring you paintballing, off-roading, two golf courses, axe-throwing, a vintage Allan Herschell carousel, and much, much more.

For those not so keen on being outside, the interconnected The Lodge and The Chateau offer a gateway to the finer things of life, including high-end shopping at the just-renovated <a href="https://www.nemacolin.com/experiences/shopping/">Laurel Lane</a>, wine tasting and tours (the property's 1,200-bottle wine menu features an unbelievable amount of five-figure wines), art classes, and the Five-Star <a href="https://www.nemacolin.com/dining/lautrec/">Lautrec</a>. Commanded by Executive Chef Kristin Butterworth, the Euro-American restaurant homages Henri Toulouse Lautrec in stunning presentation and cuisine.&nbsp;

Perhaps most impressive, though, is Nemacolin's <a href="https://www.nemacolin.com/spa/">spa</a>. Serenely housed in a modern lodge wrapped by greenery that might interest Philip Johnson, the Woodlands Spa and Salon is the pinnacle of the stay at the resort and boasts the ultimate wellness experience. Begin your journey with a full body workout at the fully equipped fitness center (yes, private trainers are available), before cooling down with a soak in the woods-facing lap pool. Next up, the lavender-scented wet sauna and the warming dry room. If you have time before your massage, the whirlpool is the perfect transition. If not, no matter, a whole menu of treatments are available. While full and half day immersions are available, the Mystical Massage is not to be missed.

<div>The best part of Nemacolin is that Nemacolin is constantly changing. Yes, new menus arrive to the several on-property restaurants each season, but so do the activities, too. In just a few short weeks the resort will host <a href="https://www.nemacolin.com/experiences/summer-camp-pride-2021/">Summer Camp: Pride 2021! with NYC nightlife icon Susanne Barstch.</a> The over-the-top weekend will include a mix of performances and programming, and will help benefit Pittsburgh's Persad Center. Days later, the resort will introduce it's largest pool yet, which will also feature a stage for live events. When fall comes, everything starts over. All this to say&mdash;after the rose ceremony, there's so much more happening.</div>
