Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Supports the Art of Choreography In LA
The Maison has partnered with three renowned choreographer’s for an unbelievable dance experience.
The influence that dance provides on fashion is a strong one. A world in which elegance is displayed through movement and beauty is evoked through emotion, dance is a highly appreciated art form from which the fashion world has historically consistently drawn inspiration. Van Cleef & Arpels has always had an admiration for the art, and kept a close relationship with the world of dance.
Throughout the Maison’s journey, Van Cleef & Arpels has shared its passion for dance through artistic collaborations with acclaimed choreographers whose performances together have bridged the world of ballet and fashion. Van Cleef & Arpels ties to the dance world were unmistakably secured after the creation of Dance Reflections back in 2020. An initiative to support dance institutions and companies around the world, Dance Reflections serves as a platform for appreciating the originality and creativity stemming from the choreographic art form and being able to share it with the world.
After a recent run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, Dance Reflections will be heading over to the West Coast in sunny Los Angeles. The program has partnered with the L.A. Dance Project and The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) to share the work of three internationally known choreographers.
French choreographer Gisèle Vienne will be presenting Crowd, a dynamic yet delicate performance. Crowd had already been presented at The Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York and received rave reviews. Vienne adapted the performance to make it outdoor friendly for its presentation taking place outside at the L.A. Dance Project studios. Choreographer and Dance Director Dimitri Chamblas will be showing a vivacious piece for his show Slow Show. The performance will feature amateur dancers and speaks on principles such as trance, exaltation, unconscious memories, and telepathy.
Last on the lineup is French artist and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, who is embracing the beauty of abstract dance in his presentation Be Here Now. The piece will be performed in a set design crafted by visual artist Barbara Kruger and is inspired by Seven Pillars by composer Andy Akiho.
The event is set to take place from Oct. 25-27. The commitment that Dance Reflections has in supporting artists and letting them share their passion through the art of choreography lies as an unforgettable connection that the Maison will forever have with the world of dance.
