Margot Robbie has singlehandedly made fashion fun this summer season.
In anticipation of the upcoming Barbie movie, Robbie has stepped out in numerous Barbie-doll-inspired looks that have quickly become the fashion gifts that keep on giving. But her jaw-dropping looks don't solely stop at the garments, Robbie has also ushered in the popularity of Barbie hair. Who knew that long blonde locs would be summer's It hairstyle? Well, Barbie probably did.
Each Barbie hair moment is an individual standout, but one in particular that specifically catches the eye is Robbie's Barbie hair at the Barbie Los Angeles premiere on July 9. She walked the red carpet in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown with her outfit referencing the 1960 "Solo in the Spotlight" Barbie doll.
Perfecting Robbie's Barbie blond hair color was celebrity hair colorist Jacob Schwartz.
"I really wanted Margot’s blonde to embody Barbie on the red carpet without it being so obvious and over-bleached," Schwartz explained. "When the light hits her hair I wanted to sparkle and bounce like those legendary blonde supermodels and actresses of the '90s".
To capture that right hue of blonde, Schwartz highlighted using Schwarzkopf Professionals’ BlondMe line, including BlondMe premium developers, BlondMe All Blondes Rich Shampoo, and BlondMe All Blondes Rich Conditioner.
Finalizing her hair glam akin to the doll was a Barbie hair updo, styled by celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett. Opting against the bangs seen on the doll, Scarlett instead went for a side-swept swirl, that still effortlessly captured the Barbie look. To achieve this hair moment, he prepped detangling her hair with Tangle Teezer’s The Wide Tooth Comb, followed by a thorough cleanse with Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo and Lightweight Liquid Conditioner.
On Robbie's freshly washed hair, Scarlett then applied Redken's Quick Blowout from roots to end to decrease blow dry time and Redken's Big Blowout for maximum volume. Her hair was set in Velcro rollers, then once cooled, smoothed back with Tangle Teezer’s The Ultimate Styler. Curl around the hairline for the side-swept bang, set the entire look with Redken's Max Hold Hairspray and your hair will officially be Barbie-ready.
Of course, if you're looking to let your tresses run a bit more freely, there are plenty of other Robbie Barbie-hair moments to channel: her curled tresses in Seoul, her straightened strands at CinemaCon, and of course, her iconic crimped hair in Mexico City referencing the "Totally Hair" Barbie from 1992.
As you plan your head-to-toe look on what to wear to the Barbie premiere on July 21, ahead, L'OFFICIEL rounds up Robbie's best Barbie hair moments for the ultimate Barbie beauty inspiration guide.
