To celebrate a decade of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/ysl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">YSL</a> Beauty's signature Le Vestiaire des Parfums line, the brand reimagined the iconic <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/fragrance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fragrance</a> collection and, this time, focused on the very essence of the maison&rsquo;s DNA. Enter Muse, the star of the relaunch and the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/scent" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sexy scent</a> that inspires the wearer and those around them.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Monsieur Saint Laurent was perpetually inspired by confident, convention-defying women&mdash;his muses,&rdquo; YSL Global Marketing Director of Fragrances Alicia Restino tells L'OFFICIEL in a statement. &ldquo;They weren't just faces; they were the embodiment of an attitude. This fragrance is an ode to that empowering energy.&rdquo;
Unlike the other scents in the line, which often nod to designs and couture codes, including Capeline, Blouse, and Velours, Muse explores something more elusive. Because of this, it &ldquo;presented a unique challenge,&rdquo; Restino continues. &ldquo;Muse encapsulates &hellip; the very spirit and vision of Monsieur <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/saint-laurent" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Saint Laurent.</a>&rdquo; A 4.2-ounce bottle <a href="https://www.yslbeautyus.com/fragrance/unisex-fragrances/the-signature-collection/muse---le-vestiaire-des-parfums/WW-51372YSL.html">retails</a> for $330.
At Muse's heart is a note rarely seen in fragrance: an ink accord. Marie Salamagne, the nose behind the creation, describes it as &ldquo;the backbone&rdquo; of Muse. The idea of ink introduces a dark and smoky aroma to the fragrance. &ldquo;It echoes the ink Monsieur <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/sushi-park-paris-saint-laurent-opening-omakase-visit-details" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Saint Laurent</a> used to sketch his silhouettes," Salamagne says. "Translating that into scent meant creating something that felt intimate, skin-like, but also bold and unexpected.&rdquo;

The inkiness of it all is layered with something much softer&mdash;and yummier&mdash;soft iris and creamy vanilla.&nbsp; &ldquo;Each ingredient in Muse was chosen like a brushstroke in a painting,&rdquo; Salamagne adds. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s all about building texture, contrast, and emotion.&rdquo; That balance between the softness of a classic vanilla scent and the strength and mystery of smoky ink is what elevates Muse beyond just another designer scent.
