Every Look From Loewe's Fall/Winter 2022 Collection
Jonathan Anderson's new collection for Loewe is a masterclass in wearable art.
If you were confused by Loewe's Fall/Winter 2022 show, you weren't the only one. Admittedly, the half-deflated pumpkins as the set were an easy tip off to audience members that Jonathan Anderson would continue playing into the surrealist side of Loewe established by the cracked egg shoes in the brand's Spring/Summer 2022 collection. However, what was unexpected was the focus on movement and shape.
The collection featured a number of garments that were sculpted to look wind blown in their stationary state, while two car-shaped dresses took the idea of "movement" literally. Other looks featured surrealist shapes and symbols, i.e. dresses with lip-shaped busts, balloons on shoes, shoes inside dresses. While the conceptual vision of the show sound too avant-garde for ready-to-wear, in actually, the collection presented a well-rounded selction of stylish pieces, from leather bomber jackets to loose-fit trousers. All in all, Anderson proved that the gap between fashion and art is not as wide as one might think.
