With the Election a Month Away, Louis Vuitton Encourages Voter Registration
With less than a month to go before the U.S. presidential election and voter registration deadlines and absentee ballots already hitting some states, Louis Vuitton closed out Paris Fashion Week with a call to action: vote. Emblazoned on a knit sweater in yellow lettering, the message opened the French fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2021 runway show held at the LVMH-owned La Samaritaine department store.
“I enjoy the fact that now we can go straight to the point,” Louis Vuitton Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière said. “Today, there is no question—you have to do the right thing, and that one thing has to have the right balance of being impactful and practical.”
Louis Vuitton echoes the political statements of other designers, as a number of labels have contributed merchandise to Joe Biden’s Believe in Better initiative and the Fashion Our Future 2020 campaign to encourage people to make their vote count. Earlier this fashion month, Christian Siriano showed a gown and matching mask that said “vote” all over.
While Louis Vuitton’s sweater won’t be produced in time for the election on November 3, the reminder rings true no matter what you’re wearing to the polls.
