Kyle MacLachlan & Jeff Goldblum Walk Prada Men's Fall/Winter 2022
Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons kicked off the first of the physical shows since their creative partnership began. The Prada Men's Fall/Winter 2022 collection was unveiled to the public within the Prada Foundation in a roar of applause, with two exceptional guests capturing the attention of those present: the actors Kyle MacLachlan and Jeff Goldblum, who respectively opened and closed the show and were joined by the young Asa Butterfield and Ashton Sanders.
Exactly 10 years after having brought celebrities such as Willem Dafoe, Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody, and Tim Roth to the catwalk for the Fall/Winter 2012 season, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons tapped Kyle MacLachlan (one of David Lynch's favorite actors), Jeff Goldblum (Grand Budapest Hotel), the young Ashton Sanders (WuTang: An American Saga), and Asa Butterfield (Sex Education) for the Prada Men's Fall/Winter 2022 fashion show. The fascination for Hollywood and the stars closest to the spirit of the Maison open the doors to a new era of the Prada man: attentive to fashion, and deeply eager to get back to dressing up to go out. And although the invitation to the show was a pajama shirt and trousers, on the runway, the two-piece became a monochromatic and one-piece workwear suit or boiler suit, thus establishing itself as an informal suit of the new post-pandemic life. Bright colors such as yellow and lime (on which appears a printed motif of a fox) appeared, alongside iridescent re-nylon and even pink. The effect was very punk and very sexy, in spite of the controversy of the Italian policemen, who would not like to wear pink because it is a "color not suited" to the uniform.
A real tribute to the coat, a mix between the Havelock and Ulster models (which was also the key piece of the Prada Fall/Winter 2012 show), outerwear with more or less rigid wools and trench coats in colored leathers featured prominently in the collection. The key accessories are the leather glove, as well as the square toe boots (so dear to Raf) instead of lace-ups and sneakers. On the belts, because the waist always appears vert defined, there are triangle pouches that recall the shape of the Prada logo. The bombers are bell-shaped with light embossing on the sleeves, and always accompanied by a belt, sure to be stolen even for the women's wardrobe, while they alternate with coats with shearling inserts, ready for expeditions to the North Pole.
