Rick Owens Gets Kinkier (and Less Scary) for Men's Fall/Winter 2025
The designer's new men's looks seemed to lean more raunchy compared to previous, spookier runway shows. Rick Owens also revealed a new pair of striking boots.
Each season, fashion enthusiasts eagerly anticipate Rick Owens' newest collection, drawn by the designer’s reputation as one of the most eclectic and unpredictable in the industry. In the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, presented during men’s Paris Fashion Week, looks are less eerie and horror-coded than previous collections. They seem to lean into a slightly kinky aesthetic through a combination of revealing crops, form-fitted pieces, and garments constructed of rope-ties.
Owens titled the autobiographical collection "Concordians,” inspired by his countless journeys over the past two decades to Concordia, a small industrial town in Italy where his factory is based. The Fall/Winter 2025 collection on the runway retained his signature energy through sharp silhouettes, overexposed warehouse lighting, and models with all-black eye contacts. For the new season, the American designer turned up the notch on a sexier edge. Deep plunging necklines, harnesses, straps, and bleached alligator shirts mark a kink-coded shift from his usual dystopian aesthetic. Accessories in the collection underscore Owens' nomadic ethos, inspired by his years traveling back and forth to Concordia, sometimes in a luxurious manner and other times fearing for his safety, according to the fashion designer’s show notes. One of the most eye-catching moments during the show in Paris was when the newest version of Rick Owens’ viral boots came down the runway in a striking fringed leather construction. Laser-cut and woven, in collaboration with Parisian designer Victor Clavelly, these are a true testament to Owens' innovativeness while remaining loyal to his aesthetic legacy.
Collaborations played a significant role in the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, with laser-cut chain-link skirts and frilled rubber hoodies designed in partnership with Matisse Di Maggio making a mark, too. Owens also introduced cow fur luggage tag necklaces and a custom bronzed Rimowa carry-on lined in black leather at the show, where celebrities like FKA Twigs, Michèle Lamy, and Takashi Murakami shut down the front row.
