Within just one week of the premiere of season 3 of Bridgerton, the series attracted an outstanding 45 million views, bringing the series to the forefront of Netflix's success. But what does this mean for the show?

For the past four years, Bridgerton and Stranger Things have been vying for the top spot among Netflix's global hits, and it seems Bridgerton is projected to take the cake. This comes as no surprise as the series has taken the world by storm thanks to the ever-evolving romance, drama, and more specifically, fashion inspiration.

The show takes on a modern twist to 1800s Regency fashion, making all the outfits quite coveted amongst viewers. In the very early stages of constructing the series and the costumes, costume designer Ellen Mirojnick spoke to L'OFFICIEL about the approach she and her team took to create what is now one of the most iconic series for the fashion world.

With colleagues John Glaser, John Norster, and Ken Crouch, they started from scratch and built their own costume house. Deciding on the tone of modern yet sticking true to some of the historical aspects of Regency fashion, they began designing.

“There’s a specificity that is as elegant as Dior or Givenchy in the old days, and also some elements of Chanel. But all very clean, and none of it is trendy," Mirojnick told L'OFFICIEL

As the show only becomes increasingly popular, it appears that life is imitating art as fans of the series are recreating their own Bridgerton-inspired outfits as everyday wear. But what does this entail?

What's now been labeled as 'Regencycore,' the aesthetic focuses in on Great Britain's Georgian era, which emphasized styles such as the babydoll silhouette, empire-waist dresses, and lavish pearl or regal accents to every gown. Although this was strictly the style for royal-like citizens in the early 1800s, Bridgerton offers a more modern flair, making it even easier to recreate in 2024.

To get a Bridgerton-inspired look, all you need are a few pieces to give a little elegance and flair to your wardrobe. A popular item that you'll find at almost all of your favorite retailers is the babydoll dress. The babydoll silhouette is elegant and feminine and is reminiscent of the lavish babydoll dresses you see on the show. Corsets, ruffles, gloves, and puffy sleeves are also easy ways to get the Regencycore aesthetic down to a T.

Although we often see aesthetics and new trends coming out of different TV shows all the time, it appears Bridgerton is one that is an everlasting inspiration to our style. L'OFFICIEL has curated a list of elements to add into your closet rotation to get a Bridgerton-inspired look, even if you're not attending a ball or being whisked away by a forbidden love.
