From the trench to the check, the house's icons are taking center stage.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/burberry-spring-summer-2026-collection-runway-images-lfw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Burberry</a> and the Victoria and Albert (V&amp;A) Museum have announced ‘The Burberry Trench: Crafting an Icon’, a free exhibit at V&amp;A South Kensington to celebrate Burberry’s 170th anniversary. Not only will rare material from the Burberry Archive be present, but the display will feature outerwear, military attire, and an overall theme of suave British sensibility.
Sat squarely in the V&amp;A’s exclusive Prince Consort Gallery, Burberry's <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/burberry-dog-sweatshirt-2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">historical</a> impact delivers dignity beside the gallery, where the exhibit explores Thomas Burberry’s initial discovery of cotton gabardine from 1879 to highlight the establishment of the Burberry&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/burberry-trench-pop-up-new-york-city" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trench</a> and how it became one of the house’s most sought-after pieces to this day. Nevertheless, the century-long stable continues to thrill fashion aficionados today. Its first element, titled ‘Craft,' highlights hand-finished collars and House Check lining, the storm flat, and the detachable throat latch. As for ‘Creativity,' it features 19 runway looks from nearly three decades, designs by Chief Creative Officers Daniel Lee and Christopher Bailey, as well as an explanation tracing the relationship between Burberry and the V&amp;A.

“As we mark 170 years of the house, we are thrilled to partner with the V&amp;A to celebrate the enduring legacy of the Burberry trench coat—a global design icon rooted in British craftsmanship and a symbol of innovation, creativity and timeless style," said Burberry Brand Curator Carly Eck. "A myriad of objects from the brand’s Archive will be publicly exhibited for the first time—from early 20th-century catalogues to a Burberry trench coat worn by fashion designer Hardy Amies," Eck added.
Opening ahead of The Burberry Gallery, set to roll out in Fall 2028, a multi-year partnership with the museum, this exhibit welcomes all. And not to be missed is its general admission, while displaying all collections to the public to see.
