Couture has traditionally been worn by the very wealthy and celebrities alike—A-listers like Marilyn Monroe, or the royals, like Kate Middleton. Women in the eye of entertainment whose lifestyles demand a sense of luxury and sophistication. The craftsmanship of couture starts with high-quality fabrics that end with a handmade custom piece perfectly fitted for the client. Couturiers like Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Alexander McQueen all had muses to dress.
Couture eventually entered menswear, from the bespoke suit to the tuxedo. And as the fashion industry is ever-changing, with innovations and environmental practices, we can point to menswear today and say the infiltration of couture adds glamor to the essential pieces in a man's wardrobe—trench coats, blazers, jeans, and shoes all can add elegance and extravagance and expense to one's appearance in a contemporary way.
