David Koma Joins Blumarine As New Creative Director
After a series of shifts between designers at the helm of the luxury label, a renowned new designer has eagerly stepped into the role.
Since Walter Chiapponi's departure from the helm of Blumarine after less than a year in the role of creative director, the luxury label has dutifully searched for a visionary new designer to take up the mantle. As a designer renowned for his artistry, craftsmanship, and youthful style, David Koma was a natural choice.
“David Koma’s aesthetic captured me from the beginning. I am sure that David will be able to interpret Blumarine’s codes to perfection, thanks to his vision and stylistic sensitivity, characterized by an overwhelming femininity,” said Marco Marchi, Sole Director of Exelite, the holding company responsible for Blumarine.
Longtime devotees of the label and fresh faces alike can look forward to the sculptural, striking styles Koma has become synonymous with, elevated to a whole new level under the Blumarine design philosophy and house codes. The Georgian-born designer began his fashion career following his graduation from the prestigious Central Saint Martin College after he launched his eponymous brand in 2009. Since the very first collection, David Koma has become a regular presence at London Fashion Week and has garnered plenty of eager eyes with each new collection.
“Blumarine embodies a unique blend of sensuality, timeless glamour, and elegance that I always admired, and it is an honour to be able to write the next chapter in the brand’s illustrious history. I am excited to celebrate Blumarine’s rich creative heritage while infusing it with my own modern vision," said David Koma, Blumarine's new creative director. "The brand’s feminine aesthetic deeply resonates with me, making this journey feel incredibly authentic. I am eager to craft collections that inspire and captivate our audience, ushering in an exciting new era of innovation and creativity at this esteemed house."
