Dior Men Goes Avant-Gardener for 75th Anniversary
Dior showed its Fall/Winter 2022 menswear collection in Place de la Concorde in Paris this morning, a collection that won creative director Kim Jones a standing ovation.
Kim Jones showed his latest collection for Dior Men, a collection both dedicated to André Leon Tally and celebrating the 75th anniversary of the house. A life-size replica of the Pont Alexandre III bridge was built inside a structure in Place de la Concorde, creating a spectacle of grandeur deserving of the collection shown inside of it. Jones collaborated with Birkenstock, creating a Dior spin on the classic Boston clog. The through line of the collection was an honoring of Christian Dior's deep affinity for botany, horticulture, and, of course, Paris. Leaf-shaped collars, complicated cuttings and patterns inspired by different forms of nature, all appeared bathed in the classic "Dior Gray." Oversized, classic jackets and blazers, with a unique spin on draping formed modern silhouettes.
