Last year, designer Giorgio Armani's Emporio Armani brand celebrated its 40th anniversary, with its One Night Only fashion show at Expo Dubai in October. In November, Armani was awarded the highest Italian Knight's Cross of Merit for his country. After this string of successes, the designer was expecting an even more promising 2022. However, unfortunately, the tide has turned against him.

Yesterday, it was announced that Armani is canceling all upcoming fashion shows. Both Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani's latest collections were due to be unveiled at Milan Men's Fall/Winter 2022 Fashion Week, while the latest Armani Privé shows were expected to premiere in Paris during the Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture and Fall/Winter 2022 seasons. Instead, Armani has decided to cancel the collections due to the deteriorating pandemic situation and the growing variants of COVID-19 and in particular the rapidly expanding Omicron variant.
