Cofounded by Brad Pitt and holistic healer Sat Hari, God&rsquo;s True Cashmere lives up to its name with ultra-soft fabrics, gemstone buttons, and tons of good energy.

Before beginning our interview, Sat Hari asks if she can guide us through an intention-setting exercise. I agree out of journalistic curiosity, and she begins, in her low, sensible voice: &ldquo;Father, Mother, God, ask for the light to be present here in both of our spaces, filling, surrounding, anchoring us here into this earth, into this space, into this interview.&rdquo; She requests that anyone reading this article receive the same love, healing energy, and light.
Sat Hari, who doesn&rsquo;t use her last name, joins our Zoom from Los Angeles, where she works as a professional healer and runs the clothing brand God&rsquo;s True Cashmere, best known for $2,250 tartan shirts studded with gemstone snaps. She sets intentions multiple times throughout the day, by herself but also with her team&mdash;before meetings, photoshoots, and showroom appointments. &ldquo;I think it just brings everyone together, so everyone gets in the same energetic field,&rdquo; Sat Hari explains.
Founded in 2019, God&rsquo;s True Cashmere sells through retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Mr Porter, and the arty LA boutique Just One Eye, as well as its own website. It&rsquo;s a lean operation, with a design team consisting of Sat Hari, two employees, and a little-known designer by the name of Brad Pitt. The brand&rsquo;s origin story is well-established but so uncanny that it bears repeating: On the same day that Sat Hari had a dream about her actor friend telling her that he needed &ldquo;more softness&rdquo; in his life (he was clad in green cashmere), the real-life Pitt had been saying something similar to his stylist. Not long after, they decided to go into business together.

If you can keep buying something over and over again, why would you cherish it?&nbsp;

For Sat Hari, soft fabrics have provided a profound sense of comfort since childhood. She was born in Massachusetts and attended boarding school in India. &ldquo;I grew up in an intense living environment,&rdquo; she says. Then and now, the gentleness of a material like cashmere helps calm her. She often wears an old maroon sweater of her father&rsquo;s around the house: &ldquo;It just reminds me of being wrapped in a hug from him.&rdquo;
God&rsquo;s True Cashmere is a luxury fashion venture, and Sat Hari herself acknowledges that its products sit at a &ldquo;crazy price point.&rdquo; Still, she views the brand as an opportunity to deliver a dose of softness to people around the world. The word love is embroidered inside the left wrist of each shirt&mdash;a reminder to care for oneself&mdash;while the seven gemstone snaps running down the front are meant to represent the seven chakras. Sat Hari explains the meaning of the different stones to me: Amethyst is for intuition and spiritual attunement, while rose quartz is meant to open the heart. Emerald, her favorite, is for healing and abundance.
After building out a robust cashmere offering (which now includes tracksuits, shorts, and socks), the brand launched linen clothing last year. That first outing was ill-fated. Sat Hari says that she rushed the collection against her better judgment, and factory flooding ultimately led to ruined material and late deliveries. In October, after more consideration, the brand presented another linen collection, which will hit stores in February. Home goods, children&rsquo;s clothing, and a new fabric offering are all in development.
Throughout this expansion, the brand&rsquo;s top-seller remains its super-soft button-down shirt. Every season, Sat Hari and Pitt sit down with a pile of color cards, mixing and matching tones until they&rsquo;ve arrived at an array of tartan combinations that please them. The day after our interview, the two are scheduled to review digital renderings of fabrics for Fall/Winter 2026, giving them a chance to make any necessary color adjustments.

Sat Hari looks to the natural world for her color palettes: &ldquo;I think nature does it better than any of us could.&rdquo; The shirt she&rsquo;s wearing on Zoom is a gray tartan with light streaks running across it, which reminds me of a striated river stone. Its fabric&mdash;muted grays and browns with flashes of pale blue and pink&mdash;is inspired by Pitt&rsquo;s upcoming film Heart of the Beast, which is set in the Alaskan wilderness.
Although God&rsquo;s True Cashmere restocks shirts in solid gray, black, blue, and cream, its colorful tartans are available for a single season. &ldquo;Once they&rsquo;re gone, they&rsquo;re gone,&rdquo; says Sat Hari. She wants the shirts to feel like special, unique heritage pieces: &ldquo;If you can keep buying something over and over again, why would you cherish it?&rdquo;
To her mind, cherishing an impossible-to-replace item doesn&rsquo;t mean sequestering it in a temperature-controlled storage container. Whether it&rsquo;s her vintage Levi&rsquo;s, old Chanel flats, or favorite diamond necklace, Sat Hari believes in wearing her treasures on a daily basis. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m not precious about it,&rdquo; she says. She hopes that customers will approach God&rsquo;s True Cashmere with a similarly unfussy attitude, noting that her brother, a medic who also works on ski patrol, frequently wears the brand&rsquo;s shirts while on the job.
She was recently in touch with a Swiss customer who wears his black cashmere shirt nearly every day during the winter. After so much use, the elbow had finally given out. Sat Hari is patching it up for him (and sending him a new black shirt for good measure). &ldquo;Things that are precious are meant to be worn,&rdquo; she points out.
