The designer is set to be celebrated at the annual luncheon for the Fashion Institute of Technology.

<a href="https://www.fitnyc.edu/museum/couture-council/">The Couture Council</a> of <a href="https://www.fitnyc.edu/museum/index.php">The Museum at FIT</a> has announced that it will honor Simon Porte Jacquemus, founder and designer of the eponymous brand with its 2024 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion during its annual luncheon.&nbsp;
The event will be held on Sept. 4 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York. It comes just before the start of New York Fashion Week, with proceeds going to The Museum at FIT, the only New York museum devoted solely to fashion.
The Couture Council board of directors, whose members include Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz, founding editor in chief of Vogue Arabia and founder of D&rsquo;NA, and president and owner of The Colony Palm Beach, Sarah Wetenhall, will be co-chairs. Nordstrom is the presenting sponsor for the fifth consecutive year.&nbsp;
<a href="https://www.businessoffashion.com/people/simon-porte-jacquemus/">Jacquemus</a>, born in the South of France, is now based in Paris. In 2009, at the age of 19, he created his brand dedicating it to his late mother. The self-taught designer&rsquo;s playful collections for women and men reference French culture and universal gestures of beauty. He is credited for bringing a unique take to Paris&rsquo; fashion scene with his deconstructed and surrealist collections which are pushing the boundaries of French fashion.
In 2014, Jacquemus was a LVMH Prize finalist and was awarded the LVMH Special Jury Prize in 2015. In 2024, he received the Neiman Marcus Award for Innovation in the Field of Fashion. His most recent achievement was being honored with the highest French ministerial award for cultural achievement, Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres), making him the youngest designer to receive this honor.&nbsp;
From igniting a global craze for <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/practical-uses-for-the-new-impractical-jacquemus-bag-2019">micro bags</a> to his <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/travel-living/jacquemus-fashion-flower-shop-paris">flower business</a>, his large social media presence has taken the world by storm. The label&rsquo;s next step is to open a <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/jacquemus-store-new-york-city-summer-2024">flagship</a> store in New York. When asked where he sees his brand in 10 years in an interview with <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/simon-porte-jacquemus-show-notes-interview">GQ</a> back in January, &ldquo;I still see the same energy around the brand. Something super solar.&rdquo;
