The renowned designer is ushering in a new era at the legendary NYC-based label.

On Sept. 2, 2025, Rachel Scott was announced as Proenza Schouler's latest creative director, following the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/proenza-schouler-founders-designers-exit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exit of the brand's founders, </a><a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/proenza-schouler-founders-designers-exit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez</a>, to Loewe earlier this year.&nbsp;
Though she is taking on all of the lead creative design responsibilities at Proenza Schouler, Scott will maintain her role at her own brand, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/diotima-fall-winter-2025-review" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Diotima</a>.
&ldquo;When we left Proenza Schouler last January, we knew the story would go on but not yet who would write the next chapter. Rachel is someone whose work we have always admired. Her trajectory over the last few years has been impressive to watch. As founders and board members of the company, we are proud to welcome her to this very special brand and excited to see how she will embrace and evolve the legacy and spirit of what we started,&rdquo; said Hernandez and McCollough in a statement.
The Jamaican designer began working with the label earlier in August, but is reportedly set to show her first official runway presentation in February 2026, as part of the Fall/Winter 2026 collection. Ahead of her official appointment at the helm of the label, Scott worked as a consultant alongside the Proenza Schouler design studio to create the Spring/Summer 2026 collection.&nbsp;
Throughout her career, Scott has been lauded by industry insiders for her creativity, aesthetic vision, sustainable production processes, and the intellectual conversations that her work provokes. In 2024, Scott took home the American Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the CFDA Fashion Awards, and just a year later in 2025, snagged the Fashion Trust U.S. ready-to-wear award for her visionary creations at Diotima.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I have conviction, I can be bolder with what I&rsquo;m doing and not be afraid to speak within my language. People can understand the narrative I&rsquo;m trying to build. I feel a sense of comfort within that, but [also] confidence that I can push my ideas a bit further,&rdquo; Scott <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/diotima-lvmh-prize-finalist-rachel-scott-designer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told&nbsp;L'OFFICIEL&nbsp;back in 2023</a>, speaking about Diotima's growth and her design process.&nbsp;
Scott's appointment at Proenza Schouler marks a major moment for the fashion and design industry as a whole and sets the stage for an influx of new voices, visual languages, and conversations within the scene.&nbsp;
