Roberto Cavalli's New Bags With LeSportsac Are a Y2K Fever Dream
The new animal printed-bags channel Roberto Cavalli's signature energy in Y2K-reminiscent silhouettes.
Roberto Cavalli and Lesportsac revealed a handbag collaboration on Tuesday morning, and the accessories assortment captures a Y2K fever dream feeling between its loud animal prints and shoulder bag silhouettes.
The drop comes with four bags that combine Roberto Cavalli-esque prints with Lesportsac shapes, including the Mini Zebra, Freedom Rum, Matelassé, and Puffy. Prices start at $350 for the pillow-y purse and go up to $425 for the zebra-printed tote. The styles are available to pre-order on both Roberto Cavalli and Lesportsac's websites. They are also shoppable at Neiman Marcus.
"When I connected with Lesportsac, I wanted to use the collaboration as a way to think about a Cavalli way to carry something on the subway in New York or to Coachella or to Burning Man," Roberto Cavalli Creative Director Fausto Puglisi said in a press release. "Ultimately, we created something democratic, easy, and young."
This spring's collaborative collection came with a Western-themed campaign, meshing another current fashion trend with the early aughts aesthetic in the bag. This handbag reveal is only the first of four between both brands. Additional drops are set to come soon, though dates have yet to be announced.
"It’s not a one-off—this is a real collaboration where two brands re-tell their story in a well-crafted, thoughtful way,” Lesportsac Creative Director Luca Schmitz added in the press release. “What impressed me about working with Fausto specifically was his ability to translate Cavalli’s DNA for a younger audience. As 2024 marked our 50th anniversary, I can think of no better foundation than this collaboration to carry Lesportsac into the future.”
