Selena Gomez is officially 33, and an impressive 23 of her years have been spent building her acting career. She first appeared on Barney &amp; Friends&nbsp;at the age of 10 alongside fellow star <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/demi-lovato-comes-out-non-binary-they-them-pronouns" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Demi Lovato</a>, but Gomez was propelled into the spotlight after being cast in the hit Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place at 15. Since then, nothing about her life has been short of extraordinary, as she has proven herself to be both a world-class actor, musician, and entrepreneur.&nbsp;
Recently, Gomez shared photos from her 70s-themed birthday party to her 418 million followers. The Emilia P&eacute;rez&nbsp;actor was snapped kissing her fianc&eacute;, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/benny-blanco-justin-bieber-tiktok-song-jennifer-hudson-show-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Benny Blanco</a>, and posing with long-time friend <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/all-the-celebrities-showing-support-for-taylor-swift-buying-masters-back" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Taylor Swift</a>. She captioned the post with a heartfelt message, writing, "This past year has truly been the most beautiful year of my life, and I owe so much of that to all of you."
There were plenty of headline-making moments during Gomez's 32nd year, most notably her engagement to the music producer, Benny Blanco. The couple announced their engagement in December 2024, when Gomez posted a photo of her <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/selena-gomez-diamond-engagement-ring-cost-details">impressive ring</a> on Instagram, captioning it, "forever begins now." Outside of her relationship, the star has continued to impress with Rare Beauty, introducing new hit makeup products and hosting a mental health summit. Gomez also starred in the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/experimental-red-carpet-looks-oscars-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Oscar</a>-nominated film Emilia P&eacute;rez, further cementing her status as a true multi-hyphenate.&nbsp;
Gomez has not always had it easy, as she opened up to the public in 2015 about her autoimmune disease, Lupus. The disease causes one's immune system to attack their organs and tissues, which results in an incredible amount of pain and swelling. This has led Gomez to spend periods out of the spotlight to undergo treatments like chemotherapy and a kidney transplant in 2017. While she is currently in remission from Lupus, she has spoken candidly about the effect it has had on both her mental health and physical well-being.
