Even in Quarantine, Women are Shopping for Sexy Shoes

Staying at home has not deterred shoppers from choosing sexy high heels that make them feel good according to L'OFFICIEL's global women's shopping survey.

There's no denying that the pandemic has had a palpable effect on fashion—both on the industry as a whole and our personal style choices. Loungewear and athleisure are now office attire as we work from home (with the occasional Zoom dress-up for on-camera meetings), and smart investment pieces have been at the top of fall shopping lists according to L'OFFICIEL's women's global shopping survey conducted via Instagram. At the same time, high fashion—in all of its elaborate and artistic glory—has prevailed.

The past few months have showed many that dressing up is a personal choice. Even in quarantine, women are continuing to channel glamour, whether it be by building their wardrobe for future outings or getting dolled up on and off social media. Dressing up is an act of celebration, an expression of personality, and a way to connect with community.

The outfit component that's reflecting this passion the most as of late? Heels. What might seem like a frivolous purchase during a time when our outdoor outings have become limited to grocery runs and the occasional dinner, fun, sexy footwear is still in demand.

On the Fall/Winter 2020 runways, designers answered the demand with heels of all heights, colors, and styles. We asked our followers which ones they were coveting the most, and pointed toe heels reigned supreme. The sharp footwear instantly elevates a look and can read just as sophisticated as they do sexy. Whether with Saint Laurent's two-tone slingbacks or Miu Miu's girly punk pumps, high heels are just what we need to lift our sartorial spirits.
