Live from New York, Kim Kardashian made her comedy debut as a host for Saturday Night Live on October 9, 2021. Though initial thoughts on Kardashian's first SNL appearance appearance drew mixed reviews, the reality star turned entrepreneur did not fall short, and in fact surprised everyone with her charm, humor, and harsh jabs at family members including Caitlyn Jenner and husband Kanye West.

Kardashian kicked off the night with a monologue that stunned SNL viewers and Kardashian fans around the world. She recounted: “When they asked, I was like, you want me to host? Why? I haven’t had a movie premiere in a really long time. I mean, I actually I only had that one movie come out and no one told me it was even premiering. It must have slipped my mom’s mind” refering to her leaked sex tape with then-boyfriend and rapper Ray J in 2007.

Kardashian mentioned that she saw the opportunity to host SNL to prove to people that she was “so much more than just a pretty face... and good hair. And great makeup. And amazing boobs. And a perfect butt." Summarizing it by saying she's "so much more than that reference photo [her] sisters showed their plastic surgeons.”

Kardashian also recounted how her father Robert Kardashian, a member of O.J. Simpson's defense team, influenced her interest in pursuing law and fighting racial injustice saying: “It’s because of him that I met my first Black person. You want to take a stab in the dark at who it was?”

In February 2021, Kardashian announced that she was filing for divorce with her husband Kanye West and addressed her reasons. During her monologue, Kardashian praised the Yeezy entrepreneur saying "I married the best rapper of all time, not only that, he's the richest Black man in America: a talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids." Then, Kardashian said: "So, when I divorced him you had to know it came down to one thing—his personality."
