After 40 years in the business, Madonna is no stranger to her fair share of mishaps and mistakes. In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer got candid about some of the wrong turns she's made throughout her career.

When asked about speculation that she turned down a role in the 1995 film Showgirls, she gave a thumbs down, expressing no regrets for that choice, but she did own up to having FOMO over two other roles that she passed up. "I regret that I turned down Catwoman [in Batman Returns]," the "Vogue" artist remarked. “Showgirls? No."

She continued, "I also turned down the role in The Matrix. Can you believe that? I wanted to kill myself."

A visibly shocked Fallon responded by saying, "You're Madonna. You don't regret anything."

“That’s like one of the best movies ever made," replied the star. "A teeny-tiny part of me regrets just that one moment in my life.”

Madonna joined Fallon on the show to discuss her new concert special Madame X which is now streaming on Paramount+. She also revealed that she is writing a "visual autobiography" about her life. "A bunch of people have tried to write movies about me, but they're always men," said the singer. However, after several failed attempts plagued by a "misogynist" director, inaccurate scripts, and a lack of authenticity, the singer told the studio she'd be writing it herself.

She explained, "There's nobody on this planet that can write or direct or make a movie about me better than me. And that's just the truth."
