As Valentine's Day quickly approaches, now is the perfect time to make a list of upcoming films you can enjoy with your significant other or with your friends, of course. Shotgun Wedding
Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) are on a mission to have a glamorous, destination wedding with both of their families involved. Of course, like with every family dynamic, tension begins to rise. Just as things are looking up, everyone is taken hostage which causes Darcy and Tom to put their wedding on hold in order to save their families. As Amazon Prime describes, "'Til Death Do Us Part' takes on a whole new meaning" in this new comedy streaming on January 27.
You People
Put Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy in one cast, and we know there will be some uncontrollable laughter. In this fresh, romantic comedy, Ezra (Hill) and Amira (Lauren London) come from different backgrounds but that doesn't stop them from getting together. Their families, on the other hand, have some differing opinions about their relationship. Watch to find out how the pair overcome their family dynamics for the sake of their blossoming love.
Magic Mike's Last Dance
After seven years, Mike Lane (Channing Tatum) returns for one last dance, or does he? In the final film of the Magic Mike series, Mike travels to London with a wealthy businesswoman (Salma Hayek) who has some ulterior motives. As Mike slowly discovers what secrets are being kept, there's some question of whether or not he will be able to pull off his last erotic show. See it in theaters on February 10.
You're Place or Mine
In this light-hearted comedy, Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher take on the roles of long-distance best friends. Debbie (Witherspoon) lives in LA with her son and Peter (Kutcher) lives in New York, but when they decide to switch places, they discover change may not be what they actually want after all.
Somebody I Used to Know
Directed by Dave Franco, Somebody I Used to Know follows the storyline of a woman (Alison Brie) who returns to her hometown and reconnects with an old flame. She reminisces about old times and realizes just how much she's changed over the years. Watch on Amazon Prime Video on February 10.
A Snowy Day in Oakland
A psychologist from San Francisco (Nicole Ari Parker) ends her long-term relationship and decides to start fresh in a small, inconspicuous town. She opens her own firm and starts feeling more like herself post-breakup. The more people she meets, the more comfortable this new environment feels to her. Tune in to this on Netflix on March 17.
Love Again
In this lovey-dovey rom-com, Priyanka Chopra takes on the role of a widow who decides to send messages to her late husband's old phone number. She soon discovers that the number has been given to someone else, and a beautiful connection sparks between the pair. See it on May 12.
Book Club: The Next Chapter
Who doesn't love a girls' trip? The Book Club continues, but this time we're in Italy! Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen make a return in one of the most heart-warming stories of female friendship, love, and adventure. Watch all the fun in theaters on May 12.
The Little Mermaid
The long-awaited Disney remake officially comes out on May 26, 2023, and we couldn't be more excited! The beloved classic will star Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and many other rising actors. Among the original characters, there are a few new additions which will be a pleasant surprise.
Asteroid City
Although there is still not much information out about the upcoming Asteroid City, what we do know is this: Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, and Scarlett Johansson are part of the cast. That list should be enough to convince you to watch, but if you're still skeptical, here's a little more information to get you excited. The story is set in a 1955 fictional American desert town, and there is talk of a Junior Stargazer convention. For those who love a mix of romance and science fiction, mark your calendars for June 23.
Barbie
Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling), the perfect, plastic couple, are set to return in the new live-action adaptation of the childhood classic series. The plot of the film is still being kept under wraps, but we only have to wait until the summer to find out what our favorite characters get up to.
Irish Wish
In this fantastical Netflix original, Maddie (Lindsay Lohan) makes a life-altering wish. When her best friend gets engaged, Maddie realizes that if she wants to find her true love, it's ultimately up to her. She wakes up as a soon-to-be bride, but she discovers that it may not be what she wished for.
Challengers
Sports fanatics are not ready for this one: Zendaya takes on the role of Tashi, a tennis coach who has trained her husband (Mike Faist) to a grand-slam-champion level. The problem arises, however, when Tashi's ex-boyfriend (Josh O'Connor) is set to play against Tashi's husband in the finale.
Red, White, and Royal Blue
Originally a novel written by Casey McQuiston, Red, White, and Royal Blue tells the story of two boys, Alex (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) who are forced to get along for the sake of their country's political state. Alex is the son of the U.S. president and Henry is a prince of Britain. At first, they hate one another, but as they get to know each other better, something romantic manifests between them.
The Idea of You
If you're in the mood for an age-gap romance, The Idea of You is the perfect movie for you! The beloved Anne Hathaway stars as Sophie, a newly-divorced mother who, after a lot of convincing, takes her daughter to Coachella, a music festival for the young and hip. Unexpectedly, Sophie falls for Hayes Campbell, the 24-year-old lead singer of her daughter's favorite boy band, August Moon.
