Princess Diana and 'Bridgerton' Share a Secret Connection
Princess Diana and Bridgerton have more in common than we imagined.
Fans may be shocked to discover that Bridgerton and Princess Diana share a connection, besides London's royal society. Producer Chris Van Dusen reveals that Daphne and her family's home was inspired by the Althorp House, the ancestral home of the Diana and the Spencer family.
The Althorp House, located in Northamptonshire, England, was the home of Princess Diana's father, the Earl of Spencer. Diana began to call the house home at the age of 13 when her father inherited the property from her grandfather. Royal fans will be thrilled to know that the house is open to the public for those who would like to visit.
Van Dusen visited the Spencer mansion while developing the series and was heavily influenced by the home's architecture and deep history. Van Dusen took to Twitter, saying, "The interior of the Bridgerton House was inspired by my visit to Althorp while I was developing the show. Elegance. Opulence. And [especially] that staircase."
The Netflix hit series, which was viewed by more than 82 million people worldwide, became one of the most-streamed original series on the platform. Bridgerton has already been renewed for a third and fourth season as well as a spin-off. The show's next season has already completed filming and is expected to return to Netflix in early 2022.
