Rachel Zegler, the star of the upcoming adaptation of West Side Story, continues to dominate musical theater as Deadline reports that the 20-year-old actress has snagged the titular role in Disney's new live-action Snow White remake. She followed up the announcement with a tweet, saying, "I HAVE MANIFESTED MY ENTIRE LIFE I THINK I THINK," as well as a video of her meeting the Disney princess, saying, "homegirl we have LOTS to catch up on."

Zegler also shared on the news in an Instagram post, writing in the caption, "well… hello to a dream come true."

In a statement, Marc Webb, the film's director, opened up about the choice to cast Zegler for the lead role. He explained, “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence, and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale."

A relative newcomer to the industry, Zegler is set to star as Maria in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story alongside Ansel Elgort, Maddie Ziegler, and more. The film is scheduled to hit theaters later this year on December 10. The project was originally supposed to premiere at the end of last year, but the release was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A teaser trailer for the film debuted during the 2021 Academy Awards.
