8 Things to Know About 'Daisy Jones & the Six' Actress Riley Keough

Riley Keough has been in the spotlight most of her life, but since the release of her new Amazon Prime series Daisy Jones & The Six, even more so. Here are eight facts you may not know about the actress.

Since the release of her new Amazon Prime series Daisy Jones & The Six, Riley Keough has taken the internet by storm. At 20, she made her acting debut as a Marie Currie in the musical drama The Runaways, alongside Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, but she is also known for her later roles in The Girlfriend Experience, Mad Max: Fury Road, and @Zola. Her acting versatility has put her in the spotlight, and we expect to see a lot more of her in the future. Below, L'OFFICIEL has compiled some not-so-well-known facts about the actress, from her family tree to past career experiences.

Elvis Presley is her grandfather.

The late Lisa Marie Presley, Keough's mother, was the only child of the King of Rock 'n' Roll and his wife Priscilla Presley, making Elvis Keough's grandfather. Although Keough never met him, she has a lot of love and respect for the musician. In a recent interview with Variety, she shared that it was an "emotional experience" to watch Austin Butler play her grandfather in the new film based off of Elvis's life.

Riley isn't her first name.

To the public, she is known as Riley Keough, but her birth name is actually Danielle Riley Keough. Her father's name is Danny, so we suspect she may be named after him. 

She dropped out of high school to become a model.

More recently, Keough is known for being a movie star, but that wasn't always the case. At the age of 14, Keough was strutting on runways, working for brands like Dolce & Gabbana, David Yurman, and Dior. She is still signed to Storm Modeling Agency to this day.  

She was engaged to her Magic Mike co-star Alex Pettyfer.

In 2012, Keough met English actor Alex Pettyfer on the set of Magic Mikeand they began a short-lived romance. The pair got engaged in March 2012 but soon split in 2013. Years later, Pettyfer said on Radio Andy that Keough was the first woman in his life that he fell in love with at first sight.

Dakota Johnson was her bridesmaid.

Keough and Dakota Johnson have been close friends since they were teenagers, so when it was revealed that Johnson had a significant part in Keough's wedding, it was no surprise. Keough and her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, were married in 2015 in Napa Valley, California among close friends, including Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevigne, and Zoë Kravitz

She owns a production company.

Keough and longtime friend Gina Gammell share custody of their business baby, Felix Culpa. The production company gained recognition with the drama War Pony, which premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. There are various other projects in the works as well. 

She wasn't a singer before Daisy Jones & The Six.

Although she comes from a strong lineage of singers, Keough has never performed or pursued singing as a career. She recently admitted in a press event that she lied in order to get the part as Daisy Jones, but, to no surprise, she was born to be a star. The voice you here in the series is Keough's real voice. 

She's a mother.

During the recent memorial service of Keough's mother, Lisa Marie Presley, it was revealed that Keough and her husband are parents to a baby girl. "I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me," Keough wrote in a statement that was read by her husband at the service.
