Ryan Gosling Cast as Ken in Margot Robbie's New 'Barbie' Movie
There's never been more perfect casting.
Every Barbie has her Ken, and Margot Robbie's Barbie film just cast its Ken with Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling.
According to Deadline, the actor is in final talks to take on the role of the iconic Mattel doll in the upcoming movie directed by Greta Gerwig. While he initially passed on the role due to scheduling conflicts, cast and crew changes in the development stage forced production to push the start of filming. However, in light of these delays, Warner Bros. continued pursuing Gosling as their top choice for the role and the actor was eventually able to find time between other projects.
In July, Variety reported that the movie was slated to begin filming in 2022 with a release scheduled for the following year. Gerwig will direct and co-write the script with her partner Noah Baumbach. Robbie will star as the titular figure and serve as a producer through her production company LuckyChaps.
No other details about the play, cast, or production timeline have been released.
