L'OFFICIEL celebrates the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress' birthday with a look at her best film and TV roles from the late '90s to the early noughties.

American actress, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/supermodel-gia-carangi-80s-last-photo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">model</a>, and executive producer Sarah Michelle Gellar became widely known for her role as Buffy Summers on the TV series <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/how-buffy-the-vampire-slayer-defined-teen-vampire-romance-genre-iconic-tv-legacy-90s-twilight-the-vampire-diaries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Buffy the Vampire Slayer</a>, for which she won six Teen Choice Awards, the Saturn Award for Best Genre TV Actress, and a <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/2022-golden-globe-award-winners" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Golden Globe</a> Award nomination. Gellar first met her now-husband and fellow <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/90s-beauty-trends-comeback-clawclip-eyeshadow-lipliner" target="_blank" rel="noopener">'90s</a> co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. while on the set of the 1997 <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/teen-fashion-trends-decades-90s-y2k-tiktok" target="_blank" rel="noopener">teen</a> horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer. The two stars married in 2002 and they have been going strong ever since. Together they have two kids, Charlotte Grace and Rocky James.

Gellar stars in the hit series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' in which she played a heroine who has abilities far beyond that of the ordinary teenage girl, fighting off vampires, demons, and other mythical creatures with the help of her friends.

Gellar and actor Freddie Prinze Jr. met on the set of the 1997 teen horror-classic film series 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and instantly connected as friends, but they didn't begin dating until two years after wrapping.

Gellar features in the 1997 horror movie 'Scream 2.' Her role in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' was extremely popular in the 1990s so when she was killed off early on in 'Scream 2,' it came as a great shock to audiences.  

Directly a result of the casting from 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' the 1999 movie 'Cruel Intentions' sees Gellar and fellow actress Selma Blair go first base in a steamy scene between frenemies.  

In the 1999 teen classic 'She's All That' starring Prinze Jr., Gellar makes a cameo appearence in a cafeteria scene while she was on set visiting her close friend and future husband.

The '90s power couple Prinze Jr. and Gellar co-star in the iconic 'Scooby-Doo' films from the early 2000s, with Gellar playing the character of Daphne and Prinze Jr. that of Fred. 

In the American remake of Japanese horror film 'The Grudge,' Gellar plays the main protagonist, an American social worker who moves with her boyfriend, Doug, to Tokyo.
