Taylor Swift Joins David O. Russell's New Star-Studded Film

The "Love Story" singer will star alongside Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, Anya Taylor-Joy, and more in this upcoming secret project.

Following her role in the notorious 2019 musical film Cats, Taylor Swift returns to acting in a new unnamed David O. Russell period film, the director's first movie since Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence in 2015. The singer joins an already A-list group of co-stars including Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Christian Bale, John David Washington, Rami Malek, Robert de Niro, Zoe Saldana, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, and more.

The details about the project are still unknown, however, Swift's casting was reported on the Instagram gossip account Deuxmoi before a source revealed the news to Showbiz 411. According to Collider, New Regency and 20th Century Studios are backing the film's production.

Hot off the heels of her Grammy win for Album of the Year for her surprise 2020 album Folklore, Swift's recent efforts have been dedicated to re-recording her old songs. In April, she released Fearless (Taylor's Version), a new recording of her 2009 album with a few unreleased titles "from the vault." While fans are eager for the singer to release more re-recorded material, her upcoming film project may slow their release.

The "Betty" singer began re-recording her old music after Scooter Braun purchased her old master recordings from Big Machine Records despite her intention to do so. She publicly condemned Braun for buying the masters to profit off her music despite past efforts of bullying and attempts to hurt her career.
