The plot, which shows the evolution and transformation of Beth Harmon, from a child to a professional chess player, has become a hit. Now, fans of the miniseries are hoping Netflix will renew it for a second season. <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/anya-taylor-joy-emma-film-fashion-new-mutants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anya Taylor-Joy</a>, who plays the main character, recently opened up about the possibility.

Executive producer William Horberg told <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/02/the-queens-gambit-ep-william-horberg-season-2-golden-globe-reaction-1234686756/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline</a> that the show creators never meant for a second season of the series to take place. However, the opinion of the actress seems to be a little different as she does not rule out the possibility of returning to the story.&nbsp;
"It would be silly of me to say, 'There will never be a second season,' and then I'm 40, and [the show's creator Scott Frank] is like, 'Hey, how do you feel about that? Do you want to go back?'" revealed <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/anya-taylor-joy-movies-emma-split" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Taylor-Joy</a> to <a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/movies-tv/a36086380/anya-taylor-joy-emma-queens-gambit/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Elle</a>.

The actress also talks about how she would like Harmon's future to be. "I hope she starts doing things for her own pleasure," she reveals. &ldquo;I would like Beth to take Benny and spend some time with him in Russia, just the two of them being snobbish intellectuals together."
Previously, Anya had already spoken about the subject to <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/02/the-queens-gambit-anya-taylor-joy-interview-season-2-pandemic-1234688591/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline</a>.&nbsp;"Obviously, it is a great compliment that people want to spend more time with these characters, with whom we care so much, and to whom we dedicate so much love," she explained.

&ldquo;Originally, we intended it to be just a miniseries, so we were all very surprised when people started asking for Season 2. But never say never!" <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/anya-taylor-joy-movies-the-queens-gambit-netflix" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the actress</a> continued. No word from Netflix yet, but fans are keeping their fingers crossed for a new season.
